Reviews for Bamboo Garden - Bowling Green
Review highlights
Based on 226 reviewsReviews for Bamboo Garden commonly highlight its role as a reliable option for American-style Chinese cuisine in Bowling Green, with many appreciating the consistent food quality over the years despite occasional changes in ownership. Patrons often note that while the menu leans more toward familiar, greasy American-Chinese dishes rather than authentic regional flavors, it offers a satisfying alternative to fast-food chains. The restaurant is praised for standout dishes like lo mein and vegetarian options, which garner particular enthusiasm. Positive remarks also extend to the friendly atmosphere and attentive service, reinforcing a welcoming dining experience. Conversely, some feedback indicates that those seeking traditional or highly authentic Chinese cuisine might find the offerings less impressive. Overall, Bamboo Garden maintains a steady reputation as a dependable local eatery with a loyal customer base drawn by quality, consistency, and a casual yet inviting environment.
Bamboo Garden offers some American-style Chinese food, the taste isn’t bad at all, you’ll get satisfied if you’re looking for something better than Panda Express, but you might get disappointed if you’re looking for some authentic and real Chinese cuisines.
Ignore the comments trashing this place, I've lived in BG for a few years now. I'm from the Lima area and I wanted something close to China Wok, this was the third place I tried and I can't find anywhere else in town that has the quality that Bamboo Garden does. Also, their lo mein noodles are better than everyone else's, can't find anything even remotely close quality-wise outside of paying out the nose for hibachi (which isn't even Chinese food, ironically) which is 3-4 times the price. These guys should be proud, god-tier food at reasonable prices imo.
Update 12 years after my first review- still 5 stars! I've had take out nearly weekly for almost 20 years. The owners changed once a long while back, but barely a change in the food. Never had food poisoning. I suspect many of these one star reviews are just blaming their food poisoning on the wrong meal (that happens often, just Google how long it can take to show symptoms) or their own hygiene. Great food, reasonable price, atmosphere is about what you should expect from a Chinese take-out, and the family that runs it is friendly if your own behavior is reasonable. People are often unfriendly to them, too, I've waited in line often enough to know.
I love this place the owner is awesome, what you want? Plus the food is good greasy American style Chinese.
The food at Bamboo Garden is absolutely amazing! We make the 30 minute drive out to bowling green, because it's some of the best around. The vegetarian options are so good. So happy to have found this place!
The most remarkable Chinese Takeout food I've had in 10 years. Granted, I've lived in a more remote area in that time, I struggled to find quick, yet tasty Chinese Food. So I decided to try my new local place and was very pleasantly surprised. The Low Mein was exceptionally tasty. The Vegetable Tofu, delicious with wonderful sauce that complements the palate. Very impressed with the place. Will be eating here often. Heavily recommend.
One of my favorite Asian cuisine places in Bowling Green I go here once a week and I love the shrimp and broccoli.
Ate here twice while traveling in the area and found both dishes very good. Vegetable Lo mien was excellent.
